Evanescence Plan More U.S. Tour Dates For 2012

'We're gonna be all over the world,' frontwoman Amy Lee tells MTV News backstage at the Hollywood Palladium.

LOS ANGELES — Backstage at the historic Hollywood Palladium on Tuesday, Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee was beaming. She was just hours away from playing to an army of eager fans (who, by the way, started forming a line around the venue early in the day). And of course, her band released its long-awaited third album, Evanescence, on the same day.

"There's a big line out there for sure," Lee told MTV News. "I don't know what to say, it was really cute. I went and bought my album at Amoeba [Music] and then I was on my way back and I had my little album on my lap, and they were all looking at their albums too. I think they just came from there.

"We're really excited," Lee continued. "You know, we've been working on this record forever and today's the day that we've been looking forward to for a really long time. It's great to be in L.A. We're gonna play a great show and just have fun."

The show was just the second stop on the tour, which sees support from opening acts the Pretty Reckless (which Lee called "a great fit") and Rival Sons (whose sound she described as "that Zeppelin, trippy, awesome rock"). Both bands were handpicked by EV, no doubt due to their impressive live sets.

As far as what fans can expect from Evanescence's stage show, Lee promised plenty from the new LP.

"We're definitely focusing mainly on the new material," Lee said. "We're really excited about that music the most — obviously it's the newest — but of course we'll be playing some from both of our other albums too. I guess I'd say in general, our show's on the heavy-energy side, so we'll be running around singing a lot of fast songs." While it's been some time since fans have had a chance to see EV live, Lee hasn't forgotten her favorite thing about touring.

"I love the fans!" Lee said with a smile. "I think the shows — I guess that's a boring answer — but definitely the thing that we're looking forward to when we're on the road is the concerts. Seeing the fans — hopefully getting them to lose their minds."

Which is exactly what they did when the band took the stage later that night at the Palladium. A seeming sea of black shirts filled the venue to near capacity. Of course, the band echoed the same dark wardrobe, punctuated by a burst of plaid on Lee's dress. Capturing every moment were a throng of cell phones and cameras hoisted in the air. Oh, and plenty of devil horns.

The energetic L.A. show was one stop among a slew of U.S. cities that the band will hit from now until November 1. But if your hometown isn't on the current schedule, don't fret: EV is already planning the next leg of the Stateside tour.

"We're still booking it, but I think we're gonna be doing another U.S. run next January, late January, somewhere in there," Lee said. "That's kind of the plan. If not, it will be soon after. We're gonna be all over the world, so — we always tour the world, but this time we're making a point to try to hit a lot the countries that we've always wanted to go to and have never been to, or that we see fans tweeting us or whatever and saying, Why don't we come there? We've never been to Indonesia, or whatever. So yeah, we've got a big list of places that we're gonna be touring for the foreseeable future."

Mailbag: Big postseason can lead to big payoff

Pujols, Fielder, Wilson among players who are poised to pump up value

Albert Pujols can be in line for an even bigger postseason if he leads the Cards to the World Series, NBCSports.com contributor Tony DeMarco writes.

Baseball Expert Tony DeMarco has been covering the big leagues since 1987, and been casting Hall of Fame ballots for the last 12 years. He answers questions weekly here:

Q: Do you believe that a player can help his future earnings with a single postseason performance? If so, what player do you think has helped himself the most during the playoffs?
? Mac Smith, New York

A: It happens regularly ? and often with disappointing results for the team that signs a free agent off an abnormally hot postseason.

Carlos Beltran is a poster boy for this. No doubt, he was heading for a big free-agent deal in the winter of 2004. But after he exploded in the playoffs for Houston ? .435 BA, 8 HRs, 14 RBIs, .536 OBP, 1.022 slugging pct. in 46 at-bats ? the Mets gave him $119 million over seven guaranteed years.

For their money, the Mets got one team playoff appearance, and from Beltran three highly productive seasons (2006-08), a couple of disappointing, injury-interrupted ones, and a solid half-season-plus before sending him to San Francisco.

In this postseason field, there is no shortage of high-profile free-agent-to-be candidates: Albert Pujols, Prince Fielder, C.J. Wilson, Jose Valverde, Francisco Rodriguez.

In terms of pure dollars, Pujols and Fielder have the most to potentially gain. Make no mistake, both are going to get huge deals, given their regular-season numbers. But leading their team to the World Series could be the convincing factor in Pujols' or Fielder's getting a couple of additional guaranteed seasons tacked onto new deals, which in their cases, could earn another $40 million or so.

Pujols ? despite being 31 ? probably will land that nine- or 10-year, $200 million-plus deal he's seeking. And questions about Fielder's weight have softened enough to where I can see him landing something similar to Adrian Gonzalez's seven-year, $154 million deal with Boston.

Barring a postseason collapse, Wilson is in line for a mega-deal as the top free-agent starting pitcher on the market ? always a most-coveted item due to lack of supply.

More likely is Wilson's winning another start or two on the way to a Rangers' world championship, and his landing a deal commensurate of an elite-level ace ? which in reality, he falls a bit short of, in my opinion.

For my money, there are more red flags with Valverde, whose postseason has been rocky. He's 33 and in poor physical condition. He's coming off a career year in terms of results, and off his most-heavily used season in terms of appearances and innings. I'd say buyer beware here, especially on any deal more than three years.

Rodriguez will get another opportunity to be a closer; he's only 29, and clearly capable of filling the role. The question will be contract length.

Q: Do you think it would be wise for Ron Washington to start Alexi Ogando in a game because he has done so well this postseason?
? Bob Tyndall, Arlington, Texas

A: No, I don't. I like Ogando right where he is. I think moving him to a late-inning role has made the Rangers' bullpen truly dominant, and that's what separates them from the other three teams left in these playoffs.

They just keep bringing in quality guys with closer-type stuff out of the pen, and they've totally shut down the Yankees and Tigers so far. I don't see that changing much through the World Series, which I believe the Rangers will win.

One thing I wouldn't mind seeing change is Washington's leaving Ogando in a bit longer ? rather than pull him in a situational left-hander scenario that calls for Mike Gonzalez. I don't see left-handed hitters getting many good swings off Ogando lately, so why not leave him in?

One more thing: From a practical standpoint, it would be very difficult for him to transition back to the rotation at this point. You couldn't expect him to go more than five innings in a start, given that he's been in the bullpen for almost a month now. Then you'd need your bullpen for four innings, and Ogando wouldn't be in that mix any longer.

Rate on 30-year fixed mortgage rises to 4.12 pct. (AP)

WASHINGTON ? The average rate on the 30-year fixed mortgage rose sharply this week after falling below 4 percent for the first time in history.

Freddie Mac said Thursday that the rate on the 30-year fixed loan rose to 4.12 percent. That's up from 3.94 percent last week, the lowest rate ever according to the National Bureau of Economic Research.

The average rate on the 15-year fixed mortgage, a popular refinancing option, increased to 3.37 percent from 3.26 percent, also a record.

Super low rates haven't been enough to lift the housing market, which has struggled in recent years with anemic sales and declining home prices.

Rates have been below 5 percent for all but two weeks in the past year. Just five years ago they were closer to 6.5 percent.

Yet sales of previously occupied homes this year are on track to be among the worst in 14 years. Sales of new homes are on pace to finish the year as the lowest on records dating back a half-century.

For many Americans, buying a house is too big a risk in this economy. Unemployment has been stuck near 9 percent for more than two years, raises are scarce and millions of foreclosures are forcing down home prices.

Others can't qualify for the historically low rates. Banks are also insisting on higher credit scores and 20 percent down payments for first-time buyers. Many repeat buyers have too little equity invested in their homes to qualify for loans.

Just half of Americans say they'll ever be able to save enough money to save for a down payment, according to a survey by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling.

Mortgage rates are low because they tend to track the yield on the 10-year Treasury note. The yield rose after government reported modest job gains in September and revisions to show more hiring in July and August.

Low mortgage rates have fueled a modest boom in refinancing. Still, most people who can afford to refinance have already locked in rates below 5 percent.

Economists say rates need to fall at least a full percentage point before it makes sense to refinance again. The reason is homeowners typically pay a few thousand dollars in closing costs when they refinance.

The low rates being offered also don't include extra fees, known as points, which many borrowers must pay to get the lowest rates. One point equals 1 percent of the loan amount. The average fees for the 30-year loan stayed at 0.8 point. The 15-year fixed loan rose to 0.8.

And more Americans refinancing their mortgages are not likely to provide much benefit to the economy. At least 25 percent of U.S. homeowners have little or no equity in their homes. So unlike in the past, people who refinance now don't tend to draw money out for home-improvement projects or other big expenditures that would contribute to economic growth.

To calculate average mortgage rates, Freddie Mac surveys lenders across the country Monday through Wednesday of each week.

The average rate on a five-year adjustable-rate mortgage increased to 3.06 percent from 2.96 percent. That followed six straight weeks of record lows for that loan.

The average rate for the one-year adjustable-rate mortgage fell to 2.90 percent from 2.95 percent. Its average of 2.81 percent last month was the lowest on records going back to 1984.

The average fees on the five-year loan stayed at 0.6; and the one-year rose to 0.6.

Burlingame REALTOR Mary Ann Teixeira ... - plan mortgage refinance

Burlingame, CA October 03, 2011

This past week, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rate dropped below 4% with a point (1%) fee. When calculated on the Wells Fargo website, a $ 400,000 loan qualified for a 30-year fixed interest rate of just 3.875%. Burlingame REALTOR Mary Ann Teixeira says refinancing higher interest loans is a no-brainer, but the decision to purchase a new home requires a more calculated risk/reward analysis.

Teixeira has talked to many buyers who are both hesitant and wary about their next move in this persistently unstable market. The big fear they express is over whether housing devaluations will continue. If they purchase a new home, they may suffer investment losses if home prices continue to slide.

The real answer, according to Teixeira, is simple and obvious: no one really knows what the future holds. But based on what is on the market now and the fact that buyers can lock up an incredibly low interest long-term loan now, prospective buyers should at least take a hard look, especially if they are currently renting.

?Just think about it?if you borrow $ 400,000 using a 30-year home loan at a 3.5% interest rate, your monthly payment is going to be about $ 1,796. This brings monthly mortgage payments to parity with rents,? said Teixeira.

?Renters in the Bay Area who have the financial means to buy should investigate this option if they are able to retain the property as their primary residence for at least five years. If they don?t buy, they will have contributed approximately $ 108,000 towards their landlord?s wealth over those five years. If they do buy, they will have grown equity in real property and enjoyed the benefits of lower taxes and homeownership.?

For additional information about low rates on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages, reasons to use a Bay Area real estate agent or San Francisco Bay Area Peninsula real estate and relocation, call Mary Ann Teixeira at (650) 241-0318, or visit her website at http://www.maryannt.com.

String of blasts in Iraq capital kills at least 10 (AP)

BAGHDAD ? A string of explosions targeting security officials ? and people who rushed to the scene to help the injured ? killed at least 10 people in western Baghdad Monday evening, officials said.

The first explosion came from a roadside bomb in a Shiite neighborhood, targeting an Iraqi army patrol, a police official said. Minutes later, a second bomb exploded nearby, targeting a passing police patrol.

As firefighters arrived on the scene of the first blast, the third bomb went off, an official said.

He said 19 people were also wounded in the attacks. A hospital official confirmed the casualties.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

Violence is nowhere near the peaks seen in 2006 and 2007, but bombings and shootings still occur with regularity.

As U.S. forces prepare to go home by the end of this year, security will rest in the hands of the Iraqi security forces. Some U.S. and Iraqi officials would like to see American forces stay in Iraq into next year to help maintain the fragile stability and train Iraqi troops.

Disagreements over whether to grant the Americans the type of legal protections they are demanding have threatened to derail any plans to have American troops in Iraq past their Dec. 31 departure date.

In another incident, six members of a land mine removal team died when a controlled detonation of old land mines went wrong, said a police official Monday.

The accident happened near the city of Basra, 340 miles (550 kilometers) southeast of Baghdad, on Saturday.

Land mines and other munitions left over from the Iraq-Iran war and the 1991 Gulf War had been piled together for a controlled detonation but failed to explode, the official said.

As the troops went to investigate, the explosion erupted, killing three Iraqi soldiers and three explosives experts.

A medical official at a nearby hospital confirmed the toll. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release information.

About 25 percent of the world's unexploded land mines are buried in Iraq.

Atletism ? Blog Archive ? Why do sports people go Mountain Biking

October 10th, 2011 by Jonny

We all love bikes, right, what is not to like about them, I mean, you go to work with the bike or to the school ? and you like it. Surely, biking seams easy when you are riding on the roads that are mainly straight, but have you ever tried the mountain biking thing?
Riding on your mountain bike without the roads, climbing on the mountains on your bike and coming down, hoping in the same time ? hm? Will you have all of your limbs when you get down? Maybe? but usually people do, it?s not so scary as we told it right now ;) Mountain biking is not only being done in the mountains; you can mountain bike in the urban areas, down the stairs, for example. But the same thing about your limbs apply. Mountain biking is becoming very popular and lots of people drive their mountain bikes every day. Even though some of the people drive their mountain bikes to get to work, mountain bikes are especially made for heavy fields. But some people find them comfortable enough for driving on the normal roads.
History of mountain biking has begun in the 1970?s in the States, in California, Maine.A group of adventurists shared passion on driving their bikes through the inaccessible areas and they had to find bikes good for that kind of driving. Mountain biking was born then and today people from all around the globe love this kind of adventurous bike driving. As for security, it?s very important to make sure you are safe and secure, so a helmet is a must have equipment for every mountain biker because falling from bike, even though you are not driving fast, can be fatal for the biker without the helmet. Glasses can protect your eyes from bugs, dust in the wind and the actual wind, and as for the knee and elbow caps, they protect your body, but they can also negatively influence your biking performance. There are also suites of armor, but they are being worn mainly on contests. Mountain bikers can also wear pant?s made out of elastic, with shirts jackets and gloves made out of fabrics that protects the user from weather changes.
contests are usually very interesting because no one can help a mountain biker when he breaks the bike and has to fix it. The mountain bike owner must repair the bike himself and continue the race.
That kind of approach to biking is very interesting and rare, but it keeps the mountain biking spirit alive and the competition between bikers bigger. Visit MiCycles for Mountain Bikes BMX Bikes, Road Cycles and much more.

Among the various advantages of a city search directory is it is ?local?. Well at the very least the great ones are. National directories can lose the local touch of dealing with local companies and businesses. The very best local directory I have encountered is involved with the towns newspapers and works in conjunction with them. Iphone applications are built-in into the structure so consumers have convenience to search locally through their phones, which makes people mobile when they are searching. This unique directory shows up results with no difficulty for larger search terms like Attorneys Perth, and lesser common search terms similar to Airlines Perth or Doors Perth. You even get to focus it right down to the suburb and find a map to accompany it.
