Alright guys, I have a good idea of how to do some real time writing with each other for action scenes, and dialogue. But first I need to know, how do you do it now? Jxlucky and Ayuta, are you friends in RL, and that's how you made the conversation? or is there a specific program/utility on Roleplaygateway that you could do it in real time? because I need to know. lol.

Just use pm it works great, you can edit and correct events together while still making it suprising and interesting for everyone involved. Though if you wanna make the fights randomize you guys can make some character sheets and just roll based on what people's weaknesses and advantages are.

Apps to Make Your Blogging Life Easier | Small Business Trends

As we?ve mentioned many times before, blogging is hard. It?s hard to fit the habit into your day and to keep coming up with new and exciting things to talk about. So when inspiration strikes, you need to capture it. Regardless if that stroke of genius comes during your lunch break, when you?re lying in bed, or when you?re brushing your teeth in the morning. As busy business people and bloggers, we must record it!

using tablet

And that?s where apps can come in handy, allowing you to take your genius with you, wherever you are. Below are some I rely on to make my blogging life easier:

Evernote

Evernote is everyone?s favorite Web capture tool, as it lets us grab full Web pages, snippets of text, images, audio, whatever, and then quickly recall it later, when we need it.

For those of us constantly on the go, Evernote makes recalling information easier and seamless. In line somewhere and find something you want to write about later? Stumble across a neat visual you want to reference?

Clip it when you see it, and then save it so you can search for it when you?re ready to use it. Evernote offers a lot of cool integrations that make it super valuable and easy to use.

Tape-A-Talk Recorder Dragon Dictation

If you prefer to speak than write, get yourself a voice recorder or dictation app to allow you to ?talk out? your blog posts instead of writing them by keyboard. I find my voice recorder app particularly useful on my drive to and from work when my mind is already bursting with ideas and I just need an outlet to release and save them for later.

If you?re someone who prefers to talk out problems or things you?re dealing with, a voice recorder may be especially useful.

For Android phones, Tape-A-Recorder is my preferred app because it allows me to append the recording, and send it to email or Evernote with one touch.

iPhone users will want to check out Dragon Dictation, which allows you to speak and instantly see your message appear. This app includes Evernote integration, as well.

Google Drive

For me, the biggest blogging convenience is being able to take my content and post ideas anywhere I go. And that means using a Web-based word processor like Google Drive.

Because I?m often crafting documents on multiple computers or devices, and collaborating with different authors, storing documents in the cloud means I can always pick up where I left off or check in to see edits others have made to something we?re working on.

Writing in the cloud and being able to access it via my phone means I?m never without the documents that I need. This saves me time by not forcing me to log into a specific device.

Google Reader

Blog reading is a writer?s best friend and provides a constant source of new ideas. But it can be hard to make blog reading part of your day unless you?re using an app to help you.

I use Google Reader both on desktop and mobile, but you?ll want to get the mobile app for whichever feed reader you rely on for your news.

Luckily, most feed readers come with app integration.

White Noise ? Rainy Day

The most difficult part of working and writing on the go is controlling your environment. Coffee shops are loud. So are buses and trains and other places that we?re often forced to try and get work done.

White Noise ? Rainy Day is a noise generator app intended to help you block out all other distractions. This is a staple for me anytime I?m working on the go (or even in my office) as I am very easily distracted.

By plugging my headphones into my phone and running this app I?m able to focus in on the task at hand and get writing done.

Above are some of the apps that help me write content wherever I am. What apps do you find yourself relying on?

Samsung has already patched 'dirty USSD' vulnerability for Galaxy SIII

'Dirty USSD' code embed can reset your Samsung Galaxy S III and other TouchWiz devices

If you were worried about stumbling onto a malicious website and accidentally wiping your Samsung Galaxy S III or other TouchWiz smartphone or slate, you can probably breathe easy. It's likely you already have firmware on your device which isn't vulnerable to the so-called dirty USSD code, and if not, you can download it now, according to Samsung. The company issued the following statement on the matter: "We would like to assure our customers that the recent security issue concerning the Galaxy S III has already been resolved through a software update. We recommend all Galaxy S III customers download the latest software update, which can be done quickly and easily via the Over-The-Air (OTA) service." It turns out we couldn't reproduce the bug earlier as we already had the latest update, and you should probably check to see that you do, as well -- and don't forget to watch what you click.

Fabricated: Scientists develop method to synthesize the sound of clothing for animations (video)

Fabricated Scientists synthesize the sound of moving clothing, but you'll still need the Wilhelm Scream

Developments in CGI and animatronics might be getting alarmingly realistic, but the audio that goes with it often still relies on manual recordings. A pair of associate professors and a graduate student from Cornell University, however, have developed a method for synthesizing the sound of moving fabrics -- such as rustling clothes -- for use in animations, and thus, potentially film. The process, presented at SIGGRAPH, but reported to the public today, involves looking into two components of the natural sound of fabric, cloth moving on cloth, and crumpling. After creating a model for the energy and pattern of these two aspects, an approximation of the sound can be created, which acts as a kind of "road map" for the final audio.

The end result is created by breaking the map down into much smaller fragments, which are then matched against a database of similar sections of real field-recorded audio. They even included binaural recordings to give a first-person perspective for headphone wearers. The process is still overseen by a human sound engineer, who selects the appropriate type of fabric and oversees the way that sounds are matched, meaning it's not quite ready for prime time. Understandable really, as this is still a proof of concept, with real-time operations and other improvements penciled in for future iterations. What does a virtual sheet being pulled over an imaginary sofa sound like? Head past the break to hear it in action, along with a presentation of the process.

Live Healthy - Live Pain-Free for Longer | 21C Woman

Sep 25, 2012 by admin

Even though the average lifespan for an average person has been slowly climbing over the past number of decades, surpassing 78 years from 74 years in 1980 in the Unites States, this does not necessarily implies that we are living a healthy lifestyle. Diseases like heart disorders, diabetes and other chronic ailments have grown proportionally among people who are just not old yet.

?Lengthening of morbidity? ? this means, we are actually living longer with these chronic diseases and health couple in their 60s walking with a bicycledisorders, not something that most of us would hope for with longer life expectancy.

Fitness During Middle Age Can Slow Aging

However, Archives of Internal Medicine suggests that a little thinking ahead could change this scenario, and a little fitness in middle-age can actually reshape the flow of aging for our population, even if the people have not exercised previously.

Researchers at the Cooper Institute in Dallas and University of Texas South-western Medical Centre have reviewed medical records of 18,670 middle-aged people, people with an average age of 49, people who were not diagnosed with a chronic disease prior to a check-up, which required them to take a treadmill test to record their aerobic fitness. Researchers then divided the group into five fitness categories.

Going through the Medicare claim records of the same individuals from 1999 to 2009, by which most participants were in their late 70s or 80s. The results showed that others who were the least fit in their middle-age were more likely to have serious chronic issues in their early aging life.

Extending, Not Preventing

However, adults who have been found to be the fit in their mid-age developed the same health condition, but their problems appeared considerably later in life than that of the less fit cohort. So people who were aerobically fit suffered from chronic diseases in the last five years of their life, instead of the more common last 20 years.

According to Dr. Benjamin Willis, a staff epidemiologist at the Cooper Institute, being physically fit in your mid-age shortens the time someone actually spends suffering from an injury, which leaves the former free of chronic diseases gutting his post-retirement years, which improves the quality of life.

Interestingly, the main observation in the study was that the effects of fitness helped in delaying illness than prolonging your life. Nevertheless, the fitness group tends to live longer owing to their illness free life.

Of course, aging is completely dependent on the individual and is a complicated process, even in the presence or absence of fitness in the person?s life; it definitely is an important element in determining the lifespan of an individual. While genetics and luck to a certain extent can be held as a cause for aerobic fitness, much of a person?s fitness capability depends upon his physical activity in their middle-age.

Exercise, Do Not Hesitate

Hence, exercising in your middle-age will give you aging benefits over less fit people, who lead a sedentary life and tend to get chronic diseases in their late middle age. The?decision to lead a healthy post-retirement, or having chronic diseases is in your control.

Dr. Willis said, one does not have to become an athlete to achieve such a simple goal, but a little time scheduled for exercises in the day can actually help the individual lead a happy and disease free life during their old age. Hence, it?s all a matter of exercising that can make all the difference.

Welcome to Motherhood | Joy in this Journey

This is the first of a special week-long series I?m calling ?Welcome to Motherhood.? It is the story of meeting our firstborn and through her, the staff at Children?s Hospital. I will post two installments per day, the first at 7am and the second sometime between 1 and 3pm (eastern), through Friday.?

I remember telling my coworkers that my pregnancy had been so uneventful that I was sure this child was going to make up for it later. ?He or she will probably be an awful teenager,? I speculated.

We opted not to find out whether the baby was a boy or a girl at the routine ultrasound. Only two things stand out in my memory of that ultrasound, how difficult it was for me to make out body parts in the flickering black and white images on the screen, and how hard the technician tried to get one specific picture ? a cross-section of the aorta and the pulmonary artery. She wanted to catch these two vessels at the point where they cross one another ? you can see both at the same time in what looks like a figure-8. But the baby wiggled a lot and the technician didn?t seem to think it was a big problem that she couldn?t get the picture. I took her word for it and went on my merry way.

I went into labor on February 26. I was only 38 weeks along and didn?t believe I was really in labor until I got up to the use the bathroom and found blood. As soon as I got back into our room to wake up Scott, my water broke in a gush all over the floor. We arrived at the hospital an hour or so later, me still nonchalant about the whole thing. It was my first, and I figured I still had hours to go. The nurses were nonchalant too, until they checked me and discovered I was 8cm dilated.

My room exploded with energy as people ran to get delivery gear, call the doctor, and prep the room. I hit transition within minutes and the next ten minutes or so is a blur of pain, trying different positions, and bristling at the nurses who kept telling me not to close my eyes. I remember looking up at one point and seeing a semi-circle of people standing around the room, maybe a dozen, and thinking how odd it was that I didn?t even care that I was naked and surrounded by strangers. Then the pushing, the doctor arriving, our daughter being placed in my arms, and my entire body shivering uncontrollably under the blessed warmth of preheated blankets.

Elli minutes old

I remember feeling numb when I looked at her for the first time. I had expected this flood of love and emotion, but it didn?t feel that way at all. In a lot of ways, it was just as awkward as meeting your college roommate the day you move into the dorms as a freshman. I knew we were going to live a lot of life together, but I didn?t know her at all and didn?t know what to say or how to be. Only times 100, because I was her MOTHER and she was my DAUGHTER and shouldn?t there be rainbows and symphonies and rays of sunshine in that moment?

We named her Elli Renee, which means ?Light Reborn.? Her first APGAR score was low, but after some blow-by oxygen, her second score was normal. Scott gave Elli her first bath while I got stitched up and cleaned up.

I tried to nurse her, and our families came in to see her, and about an hour after she was born, a pediatrician came to examine her. I remember him listening to her heart, then asking to borrow a nurse?s stethoscope to listen again. He asked me to use my call button to ask for another stethoscope. After the third listen, he told us that our baby had a heart murmur. He ordered a chest x-ray and EKG, and said she would need to see the cardiologists at Children?s. We never got those test results, no cardiologist contacted us, some of the nurses could hear the murmur and some couldn?t, and we were discharged home, so I decided it must be one of those murmurs that resolves on its own. I remember telling myself that babies are born with heart murmurs all the time, and this doctor must be running up our hospital bill. (I guess I?ve always been a bit of a skeptic.)

Three days later, Leap Day, a nurse visited us at home. We told her Elli couldn?t stay awake to nurse. A weight check showed alarming loss. Elli?s skin was yellow down into her midsection from jaundice. ?You have to get her to a doctor today,? the nurse told us.

We took Elli to my family practitioner, who sent us the emergency department at Children?s. It was the last place I wanted to take my infant ? all the germs! I had the baby blues, I was exhausted from the delivery and waking up to try to feed Elli, and then we got lost on the way to the hospital. If the doctor hadn?t told us she had called the hospital to tell them we were coming, and if my husband hadn?t been with me, I might have turned around and taken Elli home. Thank God for my husband. If I?d gone home with Elli, she would have died in our apartment that night.

Check back after 1pm for Part Two.
